Brooklyn woman accused of petit larceny in Potsdam

POTSDAM — State police on Monday charged Delphine O. Uwanomen, 19, of Brooklyn, with petit larceny.

Troopers said they responded to the Walmart Supercenter on Route 11 at 7:42 p.m. for a report that Ms. Uwanomen allegedly removed jewelry from its packaging in a fitting room and hid it on her person. Store employees said they found the packaging in the fitting room and found Ms. Uwanomen in the grocery area, where she allegedly opened a box of doughnuts, ate one and placed the package back on the shelf. She then paid for what was in her cart and was stopped by staff on her way out of the store. She admitted stealing the jewelry and the doughnut, which totaled $35.06, police said.

She was issued an appearance ticket to Town Court.
