Linda A. Yousey, 64, of Chase’s Lake, died on April 28, 2014, at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NYC where she had been a patient since Nov. 16, 2013.

Born on August 12, 1949, in Utica, NY, daughter of Frederick and Dorothy Bellinger Erhardt, she attended a one room school in the Town of Deerfield until grade 6. She graduated from Whitesboro Central High School in 1967 and held both a BA and MA in Elementary and Reading Education from SUNY Potsdam.

She married Thomas J. Yousey II on June 13, 1970 at St. Peters Church, North Utica.

Linda is survived by her husband of 43 years, a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Pamela Yousey (Madison, NJ) and their children, Emma, Jack and Henry, and a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Nathan Elsener (Buffalo) and their son, Charles. She is also survived by her mother and step-father (Utica), Dorothy (Erhardt) and Edward Cox , two sisters and brothers-in-law , Dorothy and Robert Gurdak (Utica and Zephyr Hills, FL) and Joy and James Taylor (Rome) and a brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Donna Erhardt (Utica).

She served as an elementary classroom teacher in the South Lewis Central School system before accepting a position with the Jefferson BOCES as a reading specialist. She held that position for 20 years teaching reading to primary children at Lowville Academy.

She most enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, quilting, skiing and playing golf. She served her church and community with dedication and joy. Linda was especially proud of her work as the Coordinator of the AYSO Northeast Soccerfest held at West Point for 800 young people. For that work, she received the AYSO National Spirit Award in Phoenix, AZ in 1987. She was also the recipient of the Lewis County Hospice Volunteer of the Year Award. During her recent retirement, she volunteered as the President of the Board of Directors of Hand In Hand Early Childhood Center, Inc.

The funeral service will be 11:00 A.M on Friday, May 2, 2014, at the St. Peter’s Church, Lowville. A private family burial will be held later in the Spring.

Calling hours will be from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Iseneker Funeral Home, Lowville.
