Police: teen broke into residence to steal keys, drive vehicle

WATERTOWN — City police charged Makenzie N. Roberts, 18, of 1815 Olmsted Drive, Apt. 211C, with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, unauthorized use of a vehicle and petit larceny after police said she broke into a residence, stole the owner’s keys and took her vehicle.

About 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Miss Roberts entered the residence of Patricia A. McNeil and Floyd N. Shaver, 153 Haney St., without their permission, police said. While there, she stole the keys to Ms. McNeil’s 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, and then proceeded to operate the vehicle, they said.

She was arrested at 11:23 a.m. Thursday at the Flanigan Plaza, 1125 Arsenal St. Following arraignment in City Court, she was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and held on $2,500 cash bail.
