POTSDAM — The SUNY Plattsburgh men’s lacrosse team controlled play in the second half to hand SUNY Potsdam an 11-6 defeat in a SUNYAC semifinal Wednesday afternoon.

The game was tied 4-4 at halftime, but No. 3 SUNY Plattsburgh (13-5 overall) outscored the No. 2 Bears 7-2 in the second half to pull away. SUNY Plattsburgh will travel to play top-seeded SUNY Cortland in the championship game on Saturday.

The Bears hope to earn a bid to the ECAC New England Tournament.

Brendan Damm led the Cardinals with four goals. Tim Lawrence tallied three goals and Jack Felter scored twice. Tom Duggan and Anthony Pafundi also scored for SUNY Plattsburgh. Joey Kromer won 16 of 21 faceoffs for the Cardinals.

Rob Kunz and Matt Donovan each scored two goals for the Bears (10-6). Ryan McConnell and Ed Doherty also scored.
