President Barack Obama plans to nominate Clarkson University President Anthony G. Collins to the advisory board of the St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corp.

In a White House release about several administration posts, President Obama said, “I am pleased to announce that these experienced and committed individuals have agreed to join this administration, and I look forward to working with them in the months and years ahead.”

With U.S. Senate consent, Mr. Collins will join a five-member presidential-appointed advisory board to review the Seaway’s policies and advise Administrator Betty Sutton. Mr. Collins said in a statement he was honored by the nomination.

“The Seaway is a globally significant strategic asset with unparalleled opportunities to advance and balance international trade, world-class recreation and environmental stewardship,” he said.
