CANTON Nancy A. Robert will retire as director of the St. Lawrence County Office for the Aging at the end of June.
Its time, said Mrs. Robert, who will turn 62 in July. I will continue as an advocate for older adults.
The county is advertising for Mrs. Roberts position, which has an annual salary range of $55,440 to $72.394. The deadline to apply is Wednesday.
A search committee will be appointed Monday at the county Board of Legislators meeting.
The challenge of the office is to reach under-served senior citizens with programs that are available to them and to help them understand changes in health care, Mrs. Robert said.
The Office for the Aging has 29 employees, including 12 in the office and 17 part-timers at the countys nutrition sites.
Mrs. Robert was appointed to the directors job in March 2010 after serving as the countys commuter bus program coordinator. Mrs. Robert came to the county in 2007 from Franklin County, where she had also been coordinating bus transportation. She had also been the director of a senior center in Fort Covington.
Mrs. Robert said her tenure at the Office for the Aging has been a pleasure.
I have a hard-working staff, she said. I have met many older adults throughout the county and I have enjoyed working with so many of them.
Mrs. Robert, Norwood, will move near Utica to be closer to family.
I hope to continue with volunteer activity, she said. I look forward to traveling a little bit and enjoying the waterways.
