Mohawk Raceway postpones weekend action

AKWESASNE - With already saturated grounds, and a forecast of more rain over the next couple days, officials from the Go Nuclear Late Model Series and Mohawk International Raceway had no choice other than to cancel the scheduled Atomic Spring Clash.

The two-day race weekend had already been postponed once, and moved to this Sunday and reduced to a one day event had to be called off with standing water on the inside of the track.

“We did all we could, but there was no way we could get on the track for this Sunday,” said Tenace. “We had the track crew on hand, and they were doing all they could, but we needed warm and windy weather to dry the track and we just didn’t get it. The track was very spongy, and the grounds were even worse.”

Mohawk International Raceway will now open with their regular 2014 schedule on Friday, May 16, with CKON 97.3 presenting a full program for the Modifieds, Sportsman, Mod Lites and Bandits. There is also a Test & Tuner session from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.
