POTSDAM - For the 28th straight year, the New York State Department of Health is holding a competition to discover the best tasting water in the state.
The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department, St. Lawrence County Water and Soil, and the New York State Department of Health Canton district office are co-sponsoring the County Water Taste Off from 11 a.m. to noon May 13 at the Walmart Super Center in Potsdam.
The process begins with local taste offs, where the local best tasting water is selected. The winner of the local taste-off then advances to the regional event and possibly all the way to the final competition at the New York State Fair. At the State Fair, the Best Tasting Water in New York State will be determined.
Employees and customers will be invited to taste water samples from each of the competing water systems and vote for their choice of best tasting water. At the end of the event, the votes will be counted, and the best tasting water in St. Lawrence County will be announced.
