CAZENOVIA – The North Eastern Athletic Conference has announced its 2014 Womens Lacrosse All-Conference selections, with first, second and third team honors being awarded by position to 36 student-athletes. The Wildcats of Cazenovia College represent four of those selections with freshman Kaitlin Sheppard of Ogdensburg and junior Kali Davisearning first team while junior Daejah Werntz and senior Kim Vrigian earned second team honors.
At attack, Sheppard totaled 69 points on the season after netting 50 goals while dishing out 19 assists. She collected 31 ground balls while turning in 19 draw controls to earn a spot on first team her freshman season.
On defense, Davis anchored the Wildcats defense with 22 caused turnovers. She also registered 49 ground balls and totaled 11 points on the season with 5 goals and 6 assists in her first season in a Wildcats uniform.
Werntz, a midfielder, used her speed advantage on the field to collect 68 ground balls on the season. She chipped in with 20 goals and 5 assists totaling 25 points. She also had 37 draw controls to lead the Wildcats to an 8-7 record and a spot in the NEAC Quarterfinals.
Also at midfield, Vrigian totaled 51 points this season on 42 goals and 9 assists. She won 16 draw controls, caused 22 turnovers and collected 42 groundballs. Vrigians senior leadership helped lead the Wildcats to a spot in the NEAC quarterfinals this weekend.
