DANGEROUS DOG - POTSDAM - Village police charged Mark S. Gerrish, 27, of Potsdam with allowing a dog to run at large and having a dangerous dog at 6:15p.m. Monday on Walnut Street. Police said the arrest stemmed from a complaint earlier that evening when a subject reported that two dogs ran toward him in an aggressive manner on Walnut Street. Police said they responded ,and the dogs charged at the officer in the same manner, causing the officer to pepper spray the dogs. The dogs then retreated to their home where they fully recovered.

Village police also charged Coleman J. Newtown, 22, of Potsdam with allowing a dog to run at large as part of that dame investigation.



PEDESTRIAN CROSSING - POTSDAM - Village police ticketed Mathew J. Tuper, 19, of Brier Hill for failure to yield right of way to pedestrian in crosswalk at 7:48 p.m. Monday following a traffic stop after police said they observed his vehicle fail to yield for a pedestrian in a crosswalk on Market Street.
