Watertown flushing hydrants this week


WATERTOWN — The city of Watertown’s annual hydrant flushing starts this week.

The work is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. on the following streets and days:

n Today: Harrison, Brainard, Nellis and Gotham streets; Wright Drive; Thompson Boulevard; South Indiana and Madison avenues; and Flower Avenue East.

n Wednesday: Fairmont, Girard, Keyes and Moore avenues; Olmsted Drive; Park Drive Center; Flower Avenue East, Park Drive East and Winslow Street.

n Thursday: Franklin, Academy, Sterling, Boyd and South Pleasant streets; Park Drive West and South Indiana Avenue.

Residents and business owners may experience rusty or discolored water during the flushing. City Department of Public Works officials suggest avoiding using water or doing laundry when crews are in your neighborhood.

The work will continue until June 26.
