Claude H. Levesque


LOWVILLE - Claude H. Levesque, 75, formerly of Black River, passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014, at his camp in Sperryville. Claude was presently residing at Brookside Senior Living Community.

Claude was born in Lyons Falls, on March 15, 1939, to the late Joseph A. and Julia Thibeault Levesque. Prior to entering the Marine Corp, he attended school at Lyons Falls and received his GED. On July 23, 1960, he married Geraldine C. “Geri” Bailey at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lowville. After serving two years in the Marine Corp, Claude entered the U.S. Coast Guard, and retired in 1978, as a Chief Petty Officer after serving for 20 years. It was then that he and Geri settled in Black River while Claude worked for Lear Siegler as an Airframe Structural Mechanic at Fort Drum, retiring from there in 2005. Geri passed away in 2006.

Surviving are his daughter and husband, Tina and Ken Shave of Amsterdam; sons, Todd and Katerina Levesque of Sterling, VA, Toby Levesque of Sperryville and Ty and Lisa Levesque of Taylorsville, KY; four brothers, Richard and Marie of Brantingham, Tom and Sue of Lyons Falls, Joe and Margaret of Watson and Louis and Pat of Honeoye; two sisters, Maria Burnham and Pat Watson both of Glenfield; ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Four brothers, George, Paul, John and Charles along with step-brother, Bernard died before him.

A funeral mass will be said on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Chapin, pastor of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church officiating. A military burial will follow at the Beaches Bridge Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 5-8 p.m. on Friday the 9th at the Sundquist Funeral Home in Lowville.
