GOUVERNEUR State police on Sunday charged Tyler J. Armstrong, 22, of Gouverneur, with driving while ability impaired by drugs.
At 2:14 a.m. on West Main Street in the village troopers said they conducted a traffic stop after Mr. Armstrong crossed into the oncoming lane and then stopped at the intersection of Johnstown Street and West Main Street. Troopers said he turned left on Johnstown Street and drove down the middle of the road. Troopers conducted a field sobriety test, which they said he failed. He was subsequently arrested on a DWAI charge after a drug recognition expert conducted tests on him at the station. He also was ticketed for driving to the left of pavement markings. Further charges are pending the results of a blood test, police said.
He was issued tickets to Town Court.
