Widening a 2-1 halftime lead to an 8-5 victory Canton downed host OFA 8-5 in NAC Girls Lacrosse action on Monday.

The visiting Golden Bears denied a strong effort by the Lady Devils. In Boys Lacrosse action OFA held off Potsdam 7-6.

Canton 8 - OFA 5: The Bears prevailed in a diciplined matchup while the Devils continued their steady improvement. Rachael Huntley (2 assists) and Tess Knight (1 assist) each delivered three-goal hat tricks for the Bears and Angelina Vecchio netted a solo goal.

McKaylee Boak passed out an assist to back an 11-save effort in goal. OFA’s Marrisa Foster stopped seven shots rounding out an excellent goaltending matchup.

Danielle Guimond passed out two assists for OFA which received two goals from Mackenzie Bresett, solo goals from Sky Hoover and Brooke Badlam and one goal and one assist from Hunter Shaver.

“We controlled the ball more than we have in any game this season. We took 16 shots which was excellent but now we have to work at adding some deception to our shooting,” said OFA Coach Lauren Morley.

“Danielle Guimond has a very nice game passing out three assists and Brooke Badlam and Courtney Sherwin led our defense which forced a lot of turnovers and got into transition.

OFA 7 - Potsdam 6: Taylor Richardson and Andrew Roddy each scored two goals for the Devils who held off a strong fourth quarter by Potsdam.

“Austin Morley-Sloan won almost every faceoff for us in the first half which led to a lot of extra possessions,” said OFA Coach Matt Morley.

“Potsdam came back strong in the final minutes. they had a shot at the end of the game but we blocked it into the side of the net.

Dave Purdhomme, Nate Peo and Austin Morley-Sloan all tallies single goals for OFA which hosts Salmon River today and travels to Massena on Thursday and Saranac Lake on Friday.

Quinton Denner stopped five shots in goal for OFA.
