The Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority has applied for a $2 million grant to make repairs to the Ogdensburg-Prescott International Bridge that will bring 266 jobs to St. Lawrence County.
The grant from the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery Discretionary Grant Program will be used to paint he bridges girder spans to prevent corrosion, detect any possible cable failures, to replace two deteriorated spans of bridges superstructure and repair deteriorated and leaking concrete anchor piers and apply waterproof coating to the top surface of anchor piers.
The rehabilitation project will result in the creation of 266 jobs in a struggling economy, OBPA officials said.
Keeping the bridge in a state of good repair will also have long-term economic benefits to the region by ensuring the continued flow of goods and commerce between the United States and Canada that has helped to create jobs in the region, OBPA officials said.
