HEUVELTON - Throwing strikes is always of paramount importance in baseball.
But the value of control pitching will go from paramount to critical this week as Northern Conference Baseball teams enter a stretch in the schedule filled with doubleheaders (six-inning games) to make up for wholesale weather postponements in the past two weeks.
Heuvelton Central Coach Dave Steele feels that his team has accurate mound depth to deal with the situation.
A mound staff headed by righthander Mike Martin who fired a 10-strikeout one-hitter on Friday as the Bulldogs climbed to 4-1 in a 7-1 victory over Edwards-Knox.
