A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul Fabian Ramie, age 80, of Ogdensburg, will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at 10:00AM with Rev. Jay Seymour officiating in Notre Dame Church. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Frary Funeral Home from 3:00 to 6:00PM. Mr. Ramie passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2014, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.

Paul is survived by three sons, James (Sonia) Ramie of Clay, NY; Rhett Ramie of Ogdensburg and Jason(Cheri) Ramie of Cicero, NY; two sisters, Agnes(Bernard) Boyer; Helen (Edward) Hackett; a brother, Donald (Kathy) Ramie all of Ogdensburg; four grandchildren, Hailey, Rachel, Will and Sophie and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Richard E. Ramie and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Sansoucy.

Paul was born on March 18, 1934, in Ogdensburg, the son of Emile and Dorothy (LeBeau) Ramie. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1952. Paul served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 having spent over three years in Germany. When he returned home, Paul worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway and Niagara Falls as a deckhand on the dredge, “Wolfson”. He was a technician at the inception of cable television in Ogdensburg and retired in 1995 from NewChannels Corp. after 36 years as Chief Technician.

Paul enjoyed watching sports, especially his three sons playing hockey and football, and Syracuse University Athletics. He loved his family and spending time with them especially during the annual Ramie Family Reunions at “Camp” on the river. Paul also enjoyed studying and playing Hold Em Poker. After family and friends, the St. Lawrence River was Paul’s greatest passion.
