LeRay’s rural areas have come under attack

The issue of these zoning changes has been going on for nearly eight years. It is time that the town of LeRay quit these attacks on the farming and rural areas.

We cannot help believing that someone or several people are determined to end the rural areas of LeRay and to transform LeRay into a gated community for the rich, powerful and few.

Time after time we have tried to help the town of LeRay on this issue. Yet the proposed zoning changes continue to have sections that are unconstitutional, illegal and violate property and individual rights. Examples include fencing, farms, cattle, dairy, fur, hog, poultry, agricultural structures, height, colors, windows, doors, farm stands, pastures, pick-your-own-farm operations, and other items to do with agriculture.

No permits, no site plan approval, no special use permit from the town of LeRay should be needed or required. This is a state where we have the right to farm.

As told before, it is our constitutional right to assemble; this is a First Amendment right.

How much time and taxpayer money has been wasted on this foolish and shortsighted endeavor? It is time to end this fiasco.
