OFA Blanks Potsdam in Softball


POTSDAM - After playing their first four games on the road the OFA Softball team will host a home doubleheader against Salmon River today at Heuvelton Central School. The Devils will also play at Heuvelton on Friday and hope to have their home field at the Cliff Montroy Youth Athletic Facility ready for next week.

On Tuesday the 3-1 Devils, ranked 30th in this week’s NYS Sportswriters Association Class B rankings, blanked Potsdam 29-0.

Jennie Dalton struck out eight in a five-inning two-hitter in her first appearance of the season.

“Jennie Dalton threw hard today and had good control which I really wanted to see. Jill Lincoln had another good day at the plate and we had a lot of people with two hits,” said OFA Coach Mark Henry.

Jill Lincoln lined a double and two singles and drove in four runs for the Devils who received two hits from Suzy Morrow (2 RBIs) Madi Bresett (3 RBIs), Alicia Shaver (double), Sadie Brown (2 RBIs) and Molee Ahrens (2 RBIs, 4 runs). Adrianna Compo doubled and Paige Perry (2 RBIs), xxxxxx Beyette, Alicia Sharpe,

Kelsey Green singled and doubled for Potsdam. (0-5).

Malone 6 - Canton 0: Annie Sharlow threw a no-hitter, striking out 12 over Canton (1-3 overall and division) in a Northern Athletic Conference Central Division game Tuesday. Sharlow also was one of the offensive leaders for Malone (6-0) with three hits.

Massena 14 - SR 3:Vanessa Kirkey struck out six to send Massena past the Shamrocks (2-4) in a Central Division contest in Fort Covington.

Bailey Dillabough and Chelsea Streeter each picked up two hits for the Red Raiders (2-4, 2-2). Cierra Hill went 2-for-3 for the Shamrocks.

B-M 2, Gouverneur 0:Emily O’Connor struck out 19 to lead Brushton-Moira (5-1, 4-1) past the Wildcats in a Central Division game in Gouverneur. Makenzie Rowe struck out 11 for Gouverneur (1-3).

Harrisville 26 - C-F 7: The Pirates who received triples from Mallory Baker and Samantha Rounds. Alexis Cowles doubled for Clifton-Fine
