DEKALB St. Lawrence County sheriffs deputies on May 2, charged Shawn M. Kennedy, 25, of Heuvelton with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Deputies responded to County Route 16 and Route 812 in the town of DeKalb Friday afternoon after receiving a call of an unresponsive male who had overdosed on heroin.
Deputies said CPR ws performed at the scene until EMS personnel arrived. Kennedy was treated by EMS with the drug NARCAN, an opioid antidote that reverses the effects of the narcotic drug in a matter of minutes, and was taken to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center. He was treated and later released.
Kennedy was arrested at the scene, arraigned in Canton Town Court and remanded to St. Lawrence County jail on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
Sheriffs detectives say the investigation is continuing, more charges are expected and more arrests are expected.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force detectives and Major Crimes detectives, Rensselaer Falls Volunteer Rescue Squad, state police, United States Border Patrol K-9 and the St. Lawrence County District Attorneys Office.
