Potsdam girls net lax win over OFA


OGDENSBURG - The Potsdam Central varsity girls lacrosse team relayed a 3-0 halftime lead into an 8-3 NAC win on the road over OFA on Thursday.

Kalie Grant and Abby Gruneisen netted three goals apiece to anchor the winning attack as the Lady Sandstoners improved to 9-2 overall and 8-2 in the NAC. Hannah Drecshel and Matisyn Beamer struck for the other goals while Katelyn Bloom made five saves backstopping the win.

Skye Hoover, Taylor Smith and Lexi Kennedy broke through for the OFA goals while Miranda Foster handled 10 shots as the Lady Blue Devils slipped to 2-8 overall and 1-6 in the NAC.

The Lady Sandstoners are slated to play a non-league game at Indian River Central this evening starting at 6 p.m.

In the lone other NAC girls lacrosse matchup on Thursday, Canton outscored Heuvelton 16-12 as Mimi Husinec and Bartlett netted four goals apiece followed by Tess Knight (3 assists) and Emily Pinckney (2 assists) with three goals each.

Olivia St. Pierre paced Heuvelton with five goals. Jackie Sovie tallied three goals and one assist while Maddie St. Pierre chipped in a pair of goals.
