Jefferson Community College missed out on the Region 3 Division III baseball playoffs, but the Cannoneers finished their season in style Thursday by knocking Hudson Valley CC out of the tournament as well.
Terrance Belec went 3-for-3 and drove in three runs as JCC beat Hudson Valley 8-5 in the second game of a doubleheader at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds. That win put Hudson Valley (20-16, 13-13) out and Mohawk Valley in the playoffs, which begin this weekend. Calder Roggie of Lowville and T. J. Montalbano added three hits and an RBI each for JCC, which finished 14-17 overall, 8-12 in Region 3.
JCCs Emerson Gross was 2-for-3, and Watertowns Kyle Simmons drove in a run in a 4-1 loss in the first game.
