POTSDAM Fears of unaligned turbines at the villages West Dam hydro plant have been laid to rest, as a closer examination revealed all is well with the turbine shaft.
The problem was first suspected when the village discovered the underwater bushings, which guide the shaft, had been manufactured improperly.
The bushings have been repaired, and screens soon will be installed. The generator will run again soon, according to Village Administrator David H. Fenton.
Despite concerns that the turbine shafts had fallen out of alignment in the years it sat idle, this proved not to be the case, Mr. Fenton said.
