LYONS FALLS — Lewis County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at 8:05 p.m. Friday to a residence at 6867 McAlpine St. for a reported domestic incident with one person still inside.

Deputies were unable to make contact with the subject despite numerous attempts and area homes were evacuated for precautionary reasons, according to a news release.

At about 10 p.m., Lewis County Sheriff Michael P. Carpinelli made contact with the barricaded subject using a public address system.

The subject, who was apprehended without incident, was taken to Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, under the New York State Mental Hygiene Law.

Sgt. Ryan J. Lehman of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department said the subject’s name was not released because he was taken into custody under the Mental Hygiene Law. Sgt. Lehman said no criminal charges against the subject were pending.
