The funeral for Mildred Burt of 13002 US Route 11 Adams Center will be on Wednesday, May 14th at the Honeyville Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Internment will be private in Union Cemtery. Mrs. Burt died May 8, 2014 at the Ellis Farm Hospice House. She was 100.

She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on March 8, 1914 to Joseph and Anna Whitman Lemieux. She graduated from Plattsburgh High School and continued her education at Plattsburgh State College graduating in 1936 with her degree in teaching. She married Francis R. Burt on August 5, 1939 in Morris, NY. Mr. Burt passed away in January 1975. Mrs. Burt was a teacher at South Jefferson Central School for many years until she retired in 1977.

She enjoyed golfing, painting, pottery, reading, embroidering and computer communications. She volunteered for Literacy Volunteers, was teacher of the year in 1995, a member of the Adams Center Volunteer Fireman’s Ladies Auxillary, retired teachers association, and a member of the Honeyville Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Richard (Louise) Kelley of Adams Center, 3 grandchildren Mrs. Brian (Julie) Mancroni of Fredrick, Maryland, Mrs. Charles (Amy) Lyttle of Rodman, NY, Mr. Todd Kelley of W. Lafayette, IN, and 8 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Honeyville Baptist Church, the Adams Center Free Library or Hospice of Jefferson County.
