EVANS MILLS A collapsed second-story deck sent several people to Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, on Sunday afternoon.
The small deck behind 8737 N. Main St. was believed to have five people on it at about 2 p.m. when it collapsed, said Evans Mills Fire Department Chief Joel Hall. The home is owned by David G. Edwards Jr., according to Jefferson County property records. Mr. Edwards was on the deck when it collapsed along with Leah Edwards, Sandra Edwards, Melissa Edwards and Micah Edwards, all of whom were taken to the hospital.
Injuries suffered in the fall were not believed to be life threatening, however the extent of them was unclear as of 3 p.m.
Criminal charges in the incident are unlikely, officials said. Jefferson County sheriffs deputies and the Evans Mills Fire Department responded to the scene.
