MOIRA –– A Moira man was in critical condition Monday with multiple injuries sustained Friday when his motorcycle collided with a deer in U.S. Route 11 in Moira.
Kim E. Martin, 57, was westbound on U.S. Route 11 around 9:29 p.m. on Friday when he struck and killed the deer, according to New York State Police. The 2002 Harley Davidson fell on its side and Martin was ejected. Martin came to rest on the highway, troopers said.
Martin was taken to Alice Hyde Medical Center and then transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vermont, in critical condition, troopers said. He was still in critical condition as of Monday morning, troopers said.
State police also said the condition of a man involved in a Thursday buggy accident on Regan Flats Road in Bombay is stymieing efforts to learn precisely what happened. Troopers have been unable to talk to the man, who is not Amish, as was originally reported, to learn any new details regarding the accident due to his medical condition.
State police said they have been calling every morning to check on the conditions of the two men, and the hospital staff will notify them if their conditions change.
