OGDENSBURG Plans to renovate Northwood Manor on the grounds of the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center are underway.
The project for the community residence building is expected to cost between $250,000 and $500,000, according to the state Office of General Services.
The building was built in 1987, state Office of Mental Health spokesman Benjamin M. Rosen said Monday.
After the wear and tear of 30 years of facility operations, some portions of the building are in need of renovations.
Heather Groll, spokeswoman for the Office of General Services, said the project will include rehabbing several of the bathrooms, replacing the exterior doors and windows and siding. The interior light fixtures also will be replaced, she said.
Ms. Groll said in a statement that interested companies will bid on the state construction job.
The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder ensuring that taxpayers receive services at the least cost.
The Office of General Services has set a bid date of June 4.
Prospective contractors may visit the OGS website at www.ogs.ny.gov or call 1-877-OGS-PLAN for bid documents or further information.
Mr. Rosen said the 24 people living in the building will be able to remain during the renovations.
