Additional false reporting charges lodged against Lowville teen

LOWVILLE — Village police have lodged three more counts of falsely reporting an incident against a Lowville teen who was jailed on a single count in early March.

Police — who in March said Peter F. Smith, 18, Church Street, made more than 30 calls or visits to the emergency room, ambulance squad and fire department in December and January — last week concluded their investigation by arraigning him on the additional charges.

He was sent back to Lewis County jail, with bail remaining at $500.

Police said Mr. Smith made the calls to the Lewis County General Hospital emergency room, Lewis County Search and Rescue ambulance service, Lowville Fire Department, Lewis County 911 center and Lowville Police Department.

After an investigation, police determined the reports to be fraudulent.
