MINEVILLE , New York Maureen I. Armstrong, 58, of Mineville died May 8, 2014, following an 11-month fight with cancer.
Born March 21, 1956, in Watertown, a daughter of Marian Frier and the late Ralph Frier, she graduated from General Brown High School, Dexter, N.Y., in 1974 and then from SUNY Canton in 1976 with a degree in nursing. She worked at facilities around Clinton and Essex counties, serving with a dedicated heart toward her patients and co-workers.
Maureen married the late John McMillan of Rouses Point, N.Y., on Oct. 17, 1980, and then William Armstrong on May 21, 2011. Bill gave her the best years of her life during this time, and he took excellent care of her during her illness. She always called him her knight in shining armor.
She loved gardening and NASCAR and always tried to make it to one race a year.
Besides her husband and the love of her life, William Armstrong, she is survived by her son, Michael McMillan, of Anderson, S.C.; daughter, Megan McMillan, Watertown; grandson, Harrison Moore, of Watertown; mother, Marian Frier, of Watertown; stepdaughter Sandy Gallion of Orlando, Fla.; siblings, Connie (Richard) Kingsbury, Dexter, Sharon Frier, Syracuse, Steve Frier, Syracuse; Patrick (Margaret) Frier, Dexter, and stepchildren Joy Armstrong of Port Henry, N.Y., and Edward Armstrong, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Monday May 12th at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Church 320 Lynde St. W. Watertown, NY.
