Watertown- Mary E. Hodge, 89, widow of Gerald W. Hodge and formerly of the LeRay St. Apts, passed away Sunday May 11th at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had resided for two years.
The prayer service will be 10:15 am Thursday, May 15th at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home followed by an 11 am funeral mass at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Jonas Tondayu officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, May 14th, from 4 pm - 7 pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. Mary was born in Watertown September 12, 1924, a daughter to Henry and Elizabeth LaLonde, and was educated in Watertown schools. She married Gerald W. Hodge, September 26, 1942 in the rectory of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. Mr. Hodge passed away December 21, 1976.
Mary was a cook at several restaurants in the area to include Howards Restaurant on Mill St. She was a cook in the Watertown Public and Parochial school districts to include North Junior High, Sacred Heart School and Jefferson Community College.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed knitting and sewing.
Mary is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Mark Kellar, and a son and daughter-in-law, David and Candy Hodge, all of Dexter. Nine grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son James Hodge, two brothers, Godfrey (Beaver) and Wendell LaLonde and three sisters, Gertrude Eamer, Louise Wagar and Jean LaLonde.
