MORRISTOWN - It was a split for the Morristown and Hammond Baseball and Softball teams on Monday in Northern Athletic Conference West Division action hosting Harrisville and playing at Edwards-Knox.
The Lady Rockets secured a 15-0 shutout over Harrisville in five innings while a seven run sixth lifted undefeated Harrisville past host Morristown 13-5 in baseball.
Hammond won a 9-3 decision over Edwards-Knox in softball but fell to the Cougars 6-3 in baseball.
Hammond 9, E-K 3: Mikayla Horton fired a five strikeout, five walk, four hitter for the Devils (4-3) who scored three runs in the first and fifth innings.
Paige Frisina and Horton (3 RBI) each connected for three hits for Hammond. Emily Bush and Courtney Bova each logged two hits while Mariah Simons and Abby Proven each singled.
Cheyenne Swartzfigure smacked two singles for E-K (5-4). Kelsi White and Alison Pharoah each singled. Harleigh LeBarge fanned seven and allowed seven walks and 12 hits in the setback.
Morristown 15, Harrisville 0: Logan Green produced a triple and a single as Morristown (6-5) exploded for seven runs in the second inning against the Pirates (2-11, 2-9 NAC West). Sam Green smacked a double and a single while Margret Troiano connected for a trople and Hailee Whitmarsh and Jessica Geddes each singled. Taylor Piercey logged the win striking out three and allowing just one walk and three hits.
Sara Campbell, Emory Matott, and Hunter Fowler all singled for Harrisville.
E-K 6, Hammond 3: A four-run first inning gave starter Tyler Jandreau plenty of early support and he didnt disappoint firing a six strikeout two-hitter for the 4-4 Cougars. Payton Frisina (two RBI) and Chris Sherron each singled for Hammond (0-6).
Kaden Dandrow supplied two singles for Edwards-Knox. Shane Mackin lined a two run double while Jandreau and Derek Clarke each singled. Collin Martin fanned eight batters for Hammond.
Harrisville 13, Morristown 5: Tim Fowler crushed a homerun and a single and winning pitcher Justin Hartle (nine strikeouts) crushed a homerun and a single leading the Pirates (10-0) who seven runs in the sixth inning in the win.
Jared Dreythayer and Kevin Kapfer each supplied a double and a single while Nate Weaver added a pair of singles.
Tyler Delosh and Jacob Love each supplied a homerun for Morristown. (5-5). Karter VanArnam connected for a double and two singles while Luke King lined a double and a single.
Ryan Vollmer had two hits and Jake VanArnam added a single.
