MASSENA - A 52-year-old Massena was jailed Monday after being charged with 14 felony counts of possession of sexual performances by a child.
Village police charged Everette K. Drean of 80 Bayley Road, Building 2, Apt. 1, following a lengthy investigation with assistance from federal agents and state police investigators. The charges stemmed from an investigation launched by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Police had seized four laptop computers, two cell phones and a 500-gigabyte external hard drive during the execution of a search warrant in February. Police said a review of those devices found 14 images of obscene sexual performances by children on his computer.
Mr. Drean, in an interview with village police Investigator Jordan Jenks, admitted he occasionally had viewed images of young females, estimating the girls on his computer were 10 or 11 years old.
Its not an every day thing, just once in a while, he told investigators, according to court documents.
He was arraigned Monday afternoon in Village Court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
