Clifton-Fine Central School class leaders


STAR LAKE — The academic leaders for the class of 2014 at Clifton-Fine Central School are Anthony Dowling, valedictorian, and Emma Hitchman, salutatorian.

Mr. Dowling, son of Tim and Karen Dowling, Fine, has been active in the Boy Scouts for many years, earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He received the Clarkson Leadership Award, Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award and Elmira College Key Award.

He also participates in soccer, wrestling and golf, and is a member of the National Honor Society and of his church worship team. He enjoys chorus and participating in the school’s student rock ensemble.

Mr. Dowling will pursue a degree as a physician assistant at Clarkson University, Potsdam.

Miss Hitchman, daughter of Kenneth and Roberta Hitchman, Star Lake, has received the Clarkson Achievement Award, University of Rochester George Eastman Young Leaders Award, Elmira College Key Award and Academic All-Northern recognition in soccer, basketball, softball and track.

She is a member of National Honor Society and yearbook club and is the Student Council class president.

Miss Hitchman will major in nursing at North Country Community College, Saranac Lake.
