The Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club will be hosting a free Pitch, Hit and Run Competition presented by MLB and Scotts for area youth this Friday, May 16th at 3:30 PM at Father Martin Park. Pitch, Hit and Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball and is a grassroots program designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills free of charge.
Boys and girls are divided into four age groups 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14 as of July 17, 2014 and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2014 MLB All-Star game. The individual pitching, hitting and running champions along with the All-Around Champion in each age group and each gender group at the Local Competition will recognized as well as advance to the Sectional Level Competition to be held in Central New York later in the spring. In 2010 club member Hannah Thornhill advanced to the National Finals in Anaheim from a local competition held at the OBGC.
Registration is available before the competition and any questions call the OBGC Youth Development Coordinator John Free at 393-1241.
