The suspect in an assault which led to the death of a patient at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center Monday has been transferred to a downstate facility, Ogdensburg police said Friday.

The victim, Robert D. Harrienger II, 58, was assaulted around 6 p.m. Monday at the center’s Trinity Building. He died from his injuries Tuesday, according to the state Office of Mental Health.

Ogdensburg police Detective Daniel C. Mousaw said Friday that authorities await all the facts before city police charge anyone connected to the assault.

Police said they are determining potential charges with the St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office before releasing the alleged assailant’s name.

Police said they also await the Onondaga County medical examiner’s autopsy report to determine the exact cause of Mr. Harrienger’s death. Mr. Mousaw could not say how long it would take to get the report, but it may take up to a month.
