Motorists charged with DWI


The following people are charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

n William C. Stanley, 34, of 26234 Harrier Court, Evans Mills, was charged by state police with aggravated DWI following a vehicle stop Thursday morning on County Route 63. Police said he was pulled over near the intersection of Old Rome Road shortly after 2 a.m.

His blood alcohol content was 0.19 percent, police said. A BAC of 0.08 percent or more constitutes proof of intoxication under state law. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or above.

n Elizabeth Seeley, 34, Rush, was cited by state police with several traffic violations after she was stopped while driving north on Interstate 81 in the town of Ellisburg about 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. Besides a DWI, she was cited with drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle, unsafe lane change, failure to keep right and an equipment violation. Her BAC was unavailable.

n Watertown city police charged William L. Newcombe, 18, of 15932 County Route 75, Sackets Harbor, with a rear light violation following a traffic stop at 1:19 a.m. Thursday on the 1200 block of Coffeen Street. His BAC was 0.08 percent, police said. Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent is proof of intoxication.

n William F. Wall, 43, Swiftwater, Pa., was charged by state police with making an unsafe turn at 9:16 p.m. Wednesday. Police said Mr. Wall made an improper left turn from County Route 15 onto Route 3 in Sandy Creek. His BAC was 0.15 percent, they said.

n Chelsea M. Batsford, 21, of 258 Champion St., Rutland Center, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies on multiple charges following a vehicle stop early Friday morning.

Deputies said Ms. Batsford was driving west on Route 126 shortly after 2 a.m. when she was stopped for various traffic infractions, including having no distinctive plate, operating with no bumpers, failure to keep right, driving across hazard markings and speeding. She failed field sobriety tests, deputies said. She told deputies she had two beers at an Evans Mills bar and was driving home from Watertown at the time of her arrest.

Her blood alcohol content was 0.14 percent. She is to appear in Rutland Town Court to answer the charges.
