WATERTOWN — Three people were arrested on drug charges in the town of Watertown after a vehicle stop early Saturday.

Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies charged Mark R. Amo, 29, of 619 Olive St.; Sandy E. Oney, 27, of 167 Ten Eyck St., and Tabatha L. Youngs, 27, of 249 Grove St., Gouverneur, with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance at 2:55 a.m. Saturday at 18230 Route 11. Ms. Youngs additionally was charged with third-degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine.

According to a news release, Deputy Jeffrey Froelich stopped a 2008 Chevrolet Aveo driven by Ms. Youngs. During the stop, it was determined that Ms. Youngs was wanted on a petit larceny warrant issued out of Town Court and that Mr. Oney was wanted on a bench warrant issued out of the same court.

While the two were being taken into custody on the warrants, patrols found drug paraphernalia, deputies said. Further investigation by Deputy Froelich and his K9 partner, Lobo, led to the discovery of multiple packs of heroin and a mobile meth lab, deputies said.

The three were arraigned in City Court. Ms. Youngs and Mr. Oney were sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $30,000 bail. Mr. Amo was sent to the jail without bail.

State police, the Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force and the town of Watertown Fire Department assisted at the scene.
