The following motorists are charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:
nDanny L. Backus, 56, of Gouverneur, was charged by state police early Sunday. Police said Mr. Backus was stopped at 16 Averell St. in Gouverneur for failing to keep right. He had an expired drivers license and was not wearing a seat belt, police said. His blood alcohol content was 0.15 percent, they said. Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher constitutes proof of intoxication.
n Michael P. Porcello, 20, of 8370 S. Main St., Evans Mills, was charged by state police with aggravated DWI and unlawful possession of marijuana Saturday afternoon.
Police said they responded to a complaint of a reckless and possibly intoxicated driver on Route 11 in Potsdam. His BAC was 0.18 percent, police said. Aggravated DWI is charged when the DWI is 0.18 percent or higher.
nSteven W. Ives, 46, of 24128 Shoulette Road, Redwood, also was charged by state police with unlawful possession of marijuana, failure to stop at a stop sign and speeding at 2:40 a.m. Sunday on Shoulette Road. His BAC was listed as 0.16 percent.
n James S. Daily, 49, of 313 Brainard St., Apt. 2, was charged by Jefferson County sheriffs deputies at 1:53 a.m. Saturday with failure to dim headlights on Route 11 in the town of LeRay. His BAC was listed as 0.13 percent.
n Shaun Michael Greene, 21, of 10111 Fourth Armored Division Drive, Fort Drum, was charged by Jefferson County sheriffs deputies at 5:36 a.m. Sunday on Route 11 in the town of LeRay. His BAC was listed as 0.12 percent.
