CLAYTON The Antique Boat Museum will host an opening reception for its new exhibition, The National Motor Boat Show.
The reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Dodge Launch Building, 750 Mary St.
The exhibition tells the story of the first 50 years of motorboating, from 1895 to 1945, while spanning 8,000 square feet of display space. Central to the growth of motorboating were large indoor trade shows, where boat makers would come to display their new products.
The Dodge Launch Building has been transformed to resemble one of these shows, and the boats will be interpreted using original advertising material and a period electromechanical interactive device. On display will be 12 powerboats and related engines. The event is free and open to the public.
