Hermon - Emma H. Wells, 90, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Canton - Potsdam Hospital.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 23rd at 2:00 pm at the Hermon Cemetery with Rev. Thomas Jones, pastor of the Hermon United Methodist Church officiating. There are no calling hours and arrangements are with the Green Funeral Home, Hermon.
Emma was born April 4, 1924 in DeKalb, the daughter of Lee and Vera Cole Conklin.
She graduated from Richville High School and business school in Watertown for bookkeeping and accounting.
Emma married Lawrence Wells on January 6, 1946 in Richville.
Emma was one of the original employees for Rita and Leland Blevins at Blevins Motors in Potsdam where she worked as a bookkeeper for three generations of Blevins. She worked there 43 years and retired at the age of 88 in December 2012. The Wells family also operated a farm in Hermon.
Mr. Wells passed away July 13, 1992.
Emma was committed to her job and enjoyed it as well as spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Roberta and Ted Lehman of Hermon, her 4 grandchildren James and Tracey Walrath, Carol Cole, Roland Ron and Talley LaFlamme, and Michael LaFlamme, 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandsons. Emma is also survived by 2 brothers Eldon and Eloise Conklin of Gouverneur, Richard and Nancy Conklin of Florida, several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, parents, and 3 brothers Joseph, Howard, and Robert Conklin.
