Jerry Moore, the editorial page editor for the Watertown Daily Times, must lead a tortured life. It seems that he, like so many progressives, finds your liberties and mine, which are safeguarded in the Constitution, to be absolutely irritating.
He seems especially bothered by open expressions of faith, even a simple prayer, at public venues. And to justify his discontent, he intentionally misstates the Constitution.
On May 18, in his latest rant titled, All those in favor say amen, he omits that part of the First Amendment concerning the freedom of religion, which goes on to state and the free exercise thereof, in order to mislead you into his own interpretation, for them to invoke any deity is a betrayal of the principle of religious liberty.
Really? Only in the mind of a confused progressive is the free exercise of religion a betrayal of religious liberty. But then this is the same Jerry Moore who attacks the Second Amendment by comparing gun owners to Nazis and racists.
Why not keep it to themselves he continues. But then he is not addressing the homosexual lobby. So much for your free expression and their tolerance.
It is evident that Mr. Moore, and progressives at large, cannot find a constitutional right to champion other than their right to malign others. And it is clear that one has to have progressive credentials and a palpable distaste for this country to be hired by the Watertown Daily Times.
