MARTINSBURG — Lewis County sheriff’s deputies at 6:58 a.m. Saturday arrested Tanya L. Norman, 40, Lowville, on charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs after a one-car accident in the town of Martinsburg.

Mrs. Norman was driving her 1997 Pontiac Grand Am northwest on B. Arthur Road when she swerved to miss some deer in the roadway, then went off the left side of the road and struck a National Grid utility pole, deputies said.

Deputies who arrived on the scene said they determined she was impaired by drugs after an investigation.

She also was cited with failure to keep right and is to appear in Town Court on both charges.

Lewis County Search and Rescue, the Martinsburg Fire Department and a state police drug recognition expert assisted on the scene.
