MASSENA Two Massena men were arrested on felony charges alleging they received improper benefits totaling more than $10,000 from St. Lawrence County over nearly three years.
Terry L. McGregor, 40, of 56 Sycamore St., was arrested by St. Lawrence County sheriffs deputies after an investigation. He allegedly received $3,303.90 in Temporary Assistance and food stamp benefits from the county from December 2012 until June 2013 to which he was not entitled.
The second man, Dennis J. Kemison Jr., 35, of 227 Burnhart Road, was charged with receiving $8,758.12 in Temporary Assistance benefits from September 2010 until April 2013 to which he was not entitled.
Both were arrested Sunday and charged with third-degree welfare fraud. Mr. McGregor also was charged with one count of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, while Mr. Kemison was charged with two counts of the offense. All the charges are felonies.
Information on their arraignment and court appearances was not available.
