NORWOOD — Zach Benware picked up two hits and drove in two runs to lead the second-seeded Norwood-Norfolk baseball game to an 11-5 victory over No. 3 St. Lawrence Central in a Section 10 Class C semifinal game Tuesday.

The Flyers (11-3 overall) will face top-seeded Brushton-Moira in the championship game at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Lawrence University.

Zeb Brown and Kyler MacIntire also added two hits for Norwood-Norfolk.

Shilo Winters and Brian Waite lined two hits for the Larries (8-6).

BRUSHTON-MOIRA 9, TUPPER LAKE 4

Alex Burnett gave up just five hits and added a triple to lead the Panthers past the No. 4 Lumberjacks (7-7) in a Class C semifinal in Brushton.

The Panthers (13-1) scored three runs in the first and third innings and built a 9-1 lead through five innings. Zach Burnett also tripled for Brushton-Moira.

HARRISVILLE 19, HAMMOND 2

The top-seeded Pirates scored 10 runs in the first inning and went on to defeat the No. 8 Red Devils (4-11) in a Class D quarterfinal in Harrisville.

Harrisville (13-1) will host the winner of a quarterfinal game between No. 5 Morristown and No. 4 Edwards-Knox in a semifinal at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Jared Dreythaler and Tim Fowler each picked up four hits for the Pirates. Justin Hartle went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs and Nathan Weaver, Taylor Sale and Bryon Evans each picked up two hits.

Alex Folkeson and Nick Jewitt led Hammond with two hits apiece.

MADRID-WADDINGTON 6, LISBON 0

Zach Brock struck out six and threw a three-hit shutout to lead the No. 3 Yellowjackets past the No. 6 Golden Knights (6-8) in a Class D quarterfinal in Madrid.

Madrid-Waddington (10-5) will travel to face No. 2 Heuvelton in a semifinal at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Harrison VanBuren doubled four times for Madrid-Waddington. Alex Arduine struck out six for Lisbon.

heuvelton 8, parishville-hopkinton 6

The No. 2 Bulldogs rallied from a 4-1 deficit to defeat the No. 7 Panthers (5-9) in a Class D quarterfinal game in Heuvelton.

Mike Martin struck out seven for the Bulldogs (14-2). Dylan Liscum singled twice for Heuvelton.

SOFTBALL

ST. LAWRENCE 5, NORWOOD-NORFOLK 2

Lindsay Thayer struck out nine to lead the No. 2 Larries past the No. 3 Flyers (10-6) in a Class C semifinal in Brasher Falls.

St. Lawrence Central (18-0) will meet No. 1 Brushton-Moira in the championship game at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at SUNY Potsdam.

Thayer also added two hits for the Larries and drove in two runs. Riley Barton and Liz Lynch also produced two-hit games. Katrina Durant homered for the Flyers.

BRUSHTON-MOIRA 23, TUPPER LAKE 0

Paige DeBeer went 3-for-3 to lead the Panthers past the No. 4 Lumberjacks (2-13) in a Class C semifinal in Brushton.

Emily O’Connor, Kenzie Traynor and Mika Uehara each also produced three-hit games for the Panthers (13-1). O’Connor also struck out 10 and scattered four hits.

HEUVELTON 18, MADRID-WADDINGTON 0

Freshman Paige McCormick threw her third, five-inning no-hitter to lead the No. 1 Bulldogs past the No. 8 Yellowjackets (7-8) in a Class D quarterfinal in Heuvelton.

Heuvelton (17-0) will host either No. 5 Edwards-Knox or No. 4 Lisbon in a semifinal at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

McCormick, Kristi Donnelly, Alexis Sawyer and Nathalie Barr each tallied three hits for Heuvelton.

COLTON-PIERREPONT 10, MORRISTOWN 1

Sabrina Johnson held the No. 7 Green Rockets (8-7) to just three hits as the No. 2 Colts won a Class D quarterfinal in South Colton.

Colton-Pierrepont (12-3) will host No. 6 Chateaugay or No. 3 Hammond in a semifinal at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Even Whalen drove in four runs for the Colts.

SALMON RIVER 15, POTSDAM 7

Sierra White went 5-for-5, including two doubles, to lead the No. 4 Shamrocks past the No. 5 Sandstoners (0-14) in a Class B first-round game in Fort Covington.

Salmon River (4-11) will travel to play top-seeded Ogdensburg Free Academy in a semifinal at 4:30 p.m. today.

Brittany Brooks went 4-for-5 for Salmon River and was the winning pitcher. Taylor Armstrong went 2-for-5.

MALONE 13, PERU 1

Alissa McCauley allowed just two hits to help Malone defeat Section 7’s Peru (6-6) in a nonleague game in Malone.

Morgan Fountain, Janelle Heden and Katie Lamica homered for the Huskies (17-2).

GIRLS LACROSSE

MASSENA 10, POTSDAM 3

Trysten Burns scored four goals to lead the Red Raiders (13-4) past the Sandstoners in the Section 10 overall championship game at SUNY Canton.

Both Massena, the Class B champion, and Potsdam (14-4), the Class C champion, will play state playoff games in Liverpool on Thursday.

Courtney Manley scored three goals and Mimi Lazore, Jacelyn Lazore and Shannon Casey added single goals. Annette Rishe, Kalie Grant and Kiona Loran scored for Potsdam.
