CANTON Rory Corcoran held the Malone baseball team to four hits as Massena defeated the Huskies 2-1 in the Section 10 Class A championship game at St. Lawrence University on Wednesday.
Massena (13-3 overall) will face Section 7 champion Peru in the first round of the state playoffs at 4:30 p.m. Monday at SLU.
Isaiah Dillabough and Bailey Hewlett both tripled for the Red Raiders. Jared Moody gave up three hits for the Huskies (8-8).
OFA 4, CANTON 2
The No. 2-seeded Blue Devils beat No. 4 Canton (4-9) in a Class B semifinal in Ogdensburg.
Ogdensburg Free Academy (9-5) will meet top-seeded Potsdam for the title at 4:30 p.m. Friday at SLU. Potsdam won both regular-season games against the Blue Devils.
Cody Rolfe drove in two runs with a single for OFA and DaKota Brady homered.
POTSDAM 7, GOUVERNEUR 3
Andrew Ace lined two singles and drove in three runs to lead the Sandstoners past No. 4 Gouverneur (3-11) in a Class B semifinal in Potsdam.
It was the second game of the day for the Wildcats, who beat No. 5 Salmon River 7-6 in eight innings in a game that was rained out Tuesday.
Dan Mullin went 3-for-4 for Potsdam (13-2) and Dustin Bullock lined two hits.
Kurt LaPlant lined two hits and drove in a run for Gouverneur in the win over the Shamrocks (1-12).
MORRISTOWN 12, EDWARDS-KNOX 1
Jacob Fox threw a one-hitter to lead No. 5 Morristown past the No. 4 Cougars (7-7) in a Class D quarterfinal in Russell.
Morristown (10-6) will travel to face No. 1 Harrisville in a semifinal at 4:30 p.m. today.
Jon Love went 3-for-4 for Morristown and Devin Dulmage, Zach Kanaly, Karter VanArnam, Tyler Delosh, Jake VanArnam and Ryan Vollmer each lined two hits.
MALONE 12, MASSENA 7
Morgan Fountain went 4-for-4, including an inside-the-park home run, to lead Malone (18-2) past the Red Raiders in the Section 10 Class A title game at SUNY Potsdam.
Malone will face the Section 3 champion in a first-round game of the state playoffs on June 5 in Cicero.
Erin McDonald went 2-for-4 for the Huskies. Chelsea Streeter led Massena (9-11) with three hits.
OFA 13, SALMON RIVER 4
Riley Luckie, Alicia Sharpe and Taylor Perry each finished with three hits to lead the No. 1 Blue Devils past No. 4 Salmon River (4-12) in a Class B semifinal in Ogdensburg.
OFA (9-6) will meet No. 2 Canton in the title game at 5:30 p.m. Friday at SUNY Potsdam.
Taylor Armstrong picked up two hits for the Shamrocks.
CANTON 5, GOUVERNEUR 0
Beth Pearson struck out seven and allowed five hits as the Golden Bears shut out the No. 3 Wildcats (5-10) in a Class B semifinal in Canton.
Ciarra Wilmart finished with two hits and drove in two runs for Canton (8-7). Mackenzie Rowe struck out 17 for the Wildcats, and Alyssa Whitton and Alexa Rowe each tallied two hits.
LISBON 14, EDWARDS-KNOX 5
Sierra Dobbs hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to fuel the No. 4 Golden Knights past No. 5 Edwards-Knox (9-6) in a Class D quarterfinal in Lisbon.
Lisbon (10-5) will travel to play top-seeded Heuvelton in a semifinal at 4:30 p.m. today.
Winning pitcher Alsyhia Murray added two hits for Lisbon. Makayla Bacon homered for the Cougars.
HAMMOND 4, CHATEAUGAY 2
Mikayla Horton struck out six to lead the No. 3 Red Devils past No. 6 Chateaugay (8-8) in a Class D quarterfinal in Hammond.
Hammond (11-4) will travel to play No. 2 Colton-Pierrepont in a semifinal at 4:30 p.m. today.
Courtney Bova lined two hits for Hammond.
