EVANS MILLS – Stanley E. Christman Sr., 81, of 11 Irish Ave., passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014 while at his home surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County.
Born in Sterlingville, New York on April 26th, 1933, the son of the late George & Lila Christman. He attended school in Carthage. He married Sally Hale on June 29th, 1952 in West Carthage. He was employed as a papermaker at the St. Regis Paper Mill in Deferiet, NY for 36 years, he retired in 1987. He was a member of many clubs including the Kiwanis Civic Club and the Theresa Senior Citizens Club. He also enjoyed various activities such as golfing, bowling, hunting, fishing, gardening and racing.
He is survived by his wife, Sally, Philadelphia and three children; Stanley and his wife Kathy Christman Jr., Carthage; Nancy Patterson, Carthage; and Debbie and her husband Steven Dwyer, Theresa; Also surviving are his four sisters; Marion Crump, Melba Gleason, Fran Pete, and Wanetta Lautenslager. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by two brothers, Gerald and George Christman and a sister Lila Passage.
Calling Hours will be held on Monday, June 2, 2014 from 2:00-4:00pm at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc., Located at 500 State Street in Carthage. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Funeral Home at 4:00pm with The Reverend Dave Snyder, officiating. Burial will follow in the Sanford Corners Cemetery in Calcium.
