Violet M. (Moose) Helbock, 80, of Sackets Harbor, NY & Titusville, FL, passed away Monday May 5th at home with family at her bedside. Violet is now at peace in Heaven reunited with her beloved husband, “Doug.”

Violet was born November 20, 1933 to Franklin and Marion Moose in Watertown, NY. She grew up in the Watertown/Philadelphia area. After graduating from Watertown High School in 1952, Violet served in the U.S. Air Force. She served as the first woman Payroll Clerk.

Violet Married Norman D. Helbock on January 27, 1953. They were married over 60 years, celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary in January of 2013 with family and friends. They lived in the Syracuse area for a few years after they were married until relocating to Sackets Harbor area, where they lived for over 50 years, then relocating to Titusville, FL in 2009. Norman passed away October 22, 2013.

Violet held various bookkeeping positions through the years including the position of Assistant Village Clerk of Sackets Harbor for several years. Violet also helped for several years with the Town of Hounsfield Election Board during election times.

Violet was active with community activities, especially with the senior park where she resisted in Titusville, FL. She was a Past President of Hounsfield Senior Citizens Group. Violet was a Life Member of Sackets Harbor American Legion Post 1757, a Life Member of the Sackets Harbor American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1757, where she was a Past President. She was a Past President of Jefferson County American Legion Auxiliary, Past President of the 5th District American Legion Auxiliary, and also served on many NY State American Legion Auxiliary committees at the state level. Violet was a Life Member of the Sackets Harbor Fire Department Auxiliary for many years as well as the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed being a part of many various fundraising committees. Through all of these her husband, Doug, was always there and supportive.

Violet is survived by four children and their spouses, Donnalee(Bob) Jarvis of Titusville, FL, Robert(Nancy) Helbock of Stephens City, VA, David(Anne) Helbock of Sterling, VA, Lynne(Jim) Murray of Titusville, FL and Dorothy(Ken) Kellar of Newark, NY, 15 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. Violet is also survived by a sister, Madeline(Arthur) Miles of Johnstown, NY, a brother-in-law Donald(Sandy) Helbock of Mexico, NY, along with several nieces and nephews, cousins and many close friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Violet was predeceased by two sisters, Leah(Moose) Kirschner and Pauline(Moose) Weinhold, an infant brother Leo Moose, and an infant great-granddaughter.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, June 7, at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter, NY. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Sackets Harbor with military honors. Visitation will be Friday, June 6th from 2-4 and 7-9. A reception will be held at the Sackets Harbor American Legion following the burial.

Anyone who know Violet, knew how patriotic she was and how much she dearly loved the U.S.A. In her honor, the family is asking anyone who is attending to service or reception to please wear something Red, White and Blue.
