NORWOOD The Norwood Kiwanis and the village of Norwood are partnering for a weekend-long event that organizers hope will become an annual fundraiser.
The North Country Artisan Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to dusk June 14 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 15 at the Norwood Village Green. A Norwood Village Green concert will be held at 7 p.m. June 15 following the Artisan Fair.
Its to showcase local talent around the north country, said Norwood Kiwanian Elizabeth A. Kirnie, the clubs chair of financing and fundraising. Her husband, Will, also a Kiwanian, is the event organizer.
It will be an opportunity to see the variety of north country talents from both sides of the border, she said.
Weve got a lot of folks who are creative and energetic, people who sew or weave or carve. Weve got someone who is going to build canoes before your eyes, she said.
A variety of events are planned for both days, including a Flag Day ceremony on June 14.
A food concession booth will operate both days, and there also will be a silent auction, with each vendor donating one item for that, she said.
While not part of the North Country Artisan Fair, the Norwood Public Library also has scheduled a special event for June 14 LibraryPalooza, according to Mrs. Kirnie.
LibraryPalooza, which runs from 12 to 4 p.m., kicks off the librarys summer reading program. It will feature a day of music, activities and fun for all ages.
Live entertainment includes music by Animal Crackers and Stringfolk and storytelling by Todd Moe and Ginger Sweeney. There also will be kids activity tables, face painting, cake walks and raffles. The Grub Tub from Canton will sell hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream and drinks.
The Friends of the Library will hold a book sale inside the library, and more information on the librarys summer reading activities will be available.
Proceeds will support Kiwanis programs for local children.
