ALBANY — Watertown native Brittany Burns placed 20th in the Open Division at the 36th annual Freihofer’s Run for Women 5K on Saturday.

Burns finished the race in 17 minutes, 55 seconds. The winner was Lucy Wangui Kabuu from Kenya with a time of 15:21.

The race featured 4,112 women competitors running through downtown Albany.

Burns is the daughter of Michael and Karen Burns and a 2006 graduate of South Jefferson. She ran for Marist College and was the first women’s track and field athlete in school history to be named to the Academic All-America Team in 2011.

Burns was a state champion in track and field in the steeplechase for the Spartans and a Section 3 cross-country champion.
